I've been using http://TinyURL.com for many years to shorten my links, and every time I've been to the site, it has looked outdated without options. After looking at the site more closely, I read on there that its been "over a billion" links made so far, and its around 6,800 Alexa ranking as most used site online. I saw opportunity in this, so I bought http://LinkLOL.com from a guy for $370, bought the .co, net, and .cn (chinese), too.
So far the site looks good, I made it completely free and secure, so people can make accounts to manage their links. People can set a date their link expires, a password to their link, log what geo-location people are clicking, etc.
